ZAP has been designing, deploying and operating public Wi-Fi networks since 2004: parks, libraries, recreation centres, campgrounds and commercial streets. We built more than 70% of the first version of the City of Montréal’s public Wi-Fi network, now MTLWiFi, in 16 of its 19 boroughs. The network opened access for residents in community, sports and cultural centres, as well as in parks.

 

Our model

You own the infrastructure, and ZAP operates it under a managed services contract: monitoring, maintenance, updates and support. This model has proven itself with municipalities for twenty years.

 

Wi-Fi enhanced by measurement

The same network can carry camera-free sensors that count pedestrians and cyclists, with dashboards processed locally. You know how many people use your parks, squares and streets, without ever identifying anyone.

 

Track record

• City of Montréal-Est: free Wi-Fi in all municipal parks and at the Édouard-Rivet recreation centre.

• Town of Brownsburg-Chatham: Wi-Fi network deployed in five phases across the entire municipal campground.

• MTLWiFi network, City of Montréal: more than 70% of the network’s first version, in 16 of 19 boroughs.
